“It has been 1478 days since your last release”
This is what I see every time I log into tunecore. Simply put, making music costs money. At least in my world, it does. With approximately 20 songs and another 20 potentials in the Telenovela Star “to-do” pile, I’m left feeling like I need to win lotto to complete anything.
Sometimes I waste time by using my very old and/or non-existent equipment, pretending as if I can teach myself to record T* on our own. I am wrong, but I’ve got spirit. We are pretty savvy with using digital means to write songs, alleviating the time and money involved in rehearsing (2×3 days/week when we were actively performing). This helps us exchange ideas clearly without even seeing each other. It still doesn’t solve the dilemma of time and money needed to get some songs up an out the door. Since this band is a touchy beast in its totality, we most likely will need to use the same producer again. Our silent 4th member. Its possible he retired shortly after 1400 days as well.
The photo I took is in Nikkie’s apartment, attempting experiments using her electronic drum kit and steel pan. I had several tracks mixed and had Nikkie add percussion. Although the ideas are there, the inability to record, track and mix a song, is stifling.
We shall persevere.
